Dan Filion is a Canadian fantasy author, lifelong Oz fan, and the creator behind “Dan – The Oz Guy.” Based in Embrun, Ontario, he brings his love of storytelling, books, and pop culture to both his writing and the community he’s building online.

For Dan, Oz has always been a place worth returning to. Its wonder, strange characters, and darker corners inspired him to imagine what might come after Dorothy’s story. That idea became GALEBORN, his debut novel and the first book in The Gale Legacy. Following Dorothy’s granddaughter, Eliza Gale, the series explores a familiar world through new eyes, weaving together dangerous magic, romance, and secrets that refuse to stay buried.

Sharing that story with readers has become one of the most meaningful parts of his author journey. Whether he’s meeting someone at a book signing, hearing their thoughts on GALEBORN, or talking about a favourite fictional character, Dan loves the connections that grow out of a shared love of books. He is currently at work on STORMBOUND, the next chapter in The Gale Legacy.

There’s plenty to discover about him beyond Oz, too. A big K-pop fan, pop culture enthusiast, and foodie, Dan is just as happy discussing music, movies, or a great restaurant as he is debating a book’s latest plot twist. His reading list keeps growing, usually faster than he can get through it.

On TikTok, those interests come together in The Oz Zone, where book talk, laughter, and everyday conversation can turn into an impromptu concert. His live streams reflect the person behind the pages: someone who enjoys sharing what he loves and making room for others to do the same.

Through his stories and his online community, Dan hopes to create a welcoming place where people can be themselves, find their next favourite read, and make a few friends along the yellow brick road.
